ICONN2018 Abstracts

Submissions are invited for oral and poster presentations for ICONN 2018 which is being held in Wollongong, NSW, Australia from 29 January - 2 February 2018

Instructions for submitting an abstract are detailed below. All abstracts are to be submitted electronically in accordance with the guidelines below.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

  • The lodgement of this abstract does not indicate automatic inclusion in the conference program.
  • Paper receipt and acceptance will be acknowledged to the person submitting the paper.
  • Further communication will be with the submitting author only unless otherwise directed. We recommend that the user ID and email belong to the main author that will be presenting at the conference.
  • Check adherence to 'Submitted Abstract Requirements' below.
  • Once you have created your individual account and updated your Contact Information via the link to the Online Presenter Portal as above, please navigate to the “Abstract Submission ” tab and follow the instructions to upload your abstract.
  • Please indicate if you wish for your abstract to be accepted as an 'Oral Presentation' or displayed as a 'Poster Presentation'. Please note it is at the Committee's discretion which abstracts are accepted for Oral Presentation.
  • You will be instructed to browse your computer and upload your paper as a Word document using the MS Word Template provided within the portal.
  • The Abstract Submission Portal will allow authors to keep their submission/s in Draft. You can save your submission as a Draft and log in to the portal at anytime before the submission deadline to make changes. When you are happy with the abstract you can click Submit. Any changes to the abstract after it has been submitted will need to be emailed to the Program Coordinator at maria@wsm.com.au.
  • Please note that this is the only submission process for the conference and will be used for the conference program.
  • There will be no full manuscript conference proceedings.
  • Detailed instructions on how to upload, edit and withdraw your abstract submission can be found below.

SUBMITTED ABSTRACT REQUIREMENTS

Your abstract must be submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format. You can download the MS word template within the online submission portal.

Please ensure your abstract is carefully proofread before uploading.

Your abstract should be written use the following formatting.

Page Margins

Please set the paper size to A4, single column and set the margins to be 2 cm all around. Do not use headers or footers.

Paper Title

Arial 16 pt font, bold and centred, 6pt space to next line.

Authors

Arial 12 pt font, centred, presenting author underlined, superscript for affiliation, 0 pt space to next line.

Affiliation

Arial 10pt font, centred, commence each affiliation on a new line, 0 pt space to next line.

Abstract

Arial 12 pt font, title bold, abstract text to follow on directly after the title.

Body of paper

Arial 12 pt font, section titles bold, section text to follow on directly after section title, indent by 1cm the first line of subsequent paragraphs, and separate paragraphs and sections by 6 pt. Number sections using standard numbers, not Roman Numerals or alphabetic identification.

Equations

Equations should be generated using an appropriate typesetting package compatible with Microsoft Word.

Tables and Figures

Refer to tables or figures in the template text using the form Table 1 or Fig. 1 (i.e. capitalise the word Table or Figure and do not abbreviate "Table", but do abbreviate the word "Figure"). Tables and figures must be numbered and have descriptive captions. Use Arial 10pt font in tables, the figure and table captions should be Arial 10pt and indented 0.5 cm.

Acknowledgements

Arial 12 pt font, bold and left justified (Heading), and Arial 10 pt font, and left justified (Text).

References

Arial 12 pt font, bold and left justified.

AUTHOR ACCEPTANCE

Following the review of abstract, authors will be notified via email of their abstract acceptance no later than Monday 2 October 2017. Formal acceptance of the offer to be present is required by Monday 13 November 2017 via reply email.

ACCEPTED ABSTRACT REQUIREMENTS

  • Each abstract must have at least one author registered by the early bird registration closing date 1 December 2017.
  • The author must register and be at the conference to present the submission either orally or by poster presentation.
  • Please note that all conference costs, including registration fees, must be met from your own resources.
  • Abstracts which do not meet these requirements will be withdrawn from the conference program.

SUBMISSION PROCESS

Abstract submission is a two step process. Please follow the instructions carefully to ensure your submission is uploaded into the portal correctly.

Step 1 - Creating an account and logging in

Firstly you must create an account in order to submit an abstract.

Click on the button below to access the abstract submission portal to submit an abstract.

Please select the 'Create New Account' button to complete your preferred email address and password.

Once logged into the submission portal please click on the ‘Your Contact Information’ tab at the top of menu bar and complete your contact details. A confirmation email with further instructions on how to submit your abstract will be emailed directly to you.

Once you’ve created an account within the abstract submission portal you can upload abstracts, edit abstracts that are still in draft, review briefing notes at a later stage, and review terms and conditions at any time by logging in.

Please ensure you read all the relevant information within the portal, including taking note of key dates related to the Conference.

Once complete, move to Step 2.

Step 2 - Submitting your abstract

Click on "Abstract Submission" and review the instructions.

On this page you will find the abstract template, please save the template to your desktop and complete it.

Use the template to present your abstract in the required format. Abstracts not submitted using this template will be returned for correction.

All abstracts submitted will be peer-reviewed. Please ensure that all formatting is correct as per the Submitted Abstract Requirements above.

You will be required to provide the following details prior to uploading the abstract file:

  • The abstract title
  • Preferred presentation type
  • Theme
  • Author names and affiliations
  • Presenting author biography
  • Your completed abstract template

Please complete each field and then select the ‘Submit’ button to successfully upload your abstract. Please note this button will show only when all fields have been completed.

Should you wish to delete or edit an abstract that has been successfully uploaded; you will need to contact the Program Coordinator.

Once your submission is uploaded correctly, you will receive a confirmation email. If you do not receive this email, your abstract has not been uploaded correctly. The abstract will be found under the ‘Your Abstracts’ tab and you will need to submit it.
