The Cairns Convention Centre is a world-class meetings venue in the tropical paradise of Cairns, fringed by the Great Barrier Reef and World Heritage Rainforest.

No smoking policy

Smoking is prohibited inside the Cairns Convention Centre.

Registration Desk

The Conference Registration Desk will be situated in the foyer of the Cairns Convention Centre and staffed as follows:

Sunday 18 July	4:00pm – 6.00pm
Monday 19 July	7.30am – 7.00pm
Tuesday 20 July	8.00am – 5.00pm
Wednesday 21 July	8.00am – 5.00pm
Thursday 22 July	8.00am – 5.00pm
Friday 23 July	8.00am – 11.45am

Transport to and from the Airport

Location

The Conference venue is approximately 15 minutes by taxi from the Cairns International and Domestic Airport. The cost will be approximately $A15.00.

Taxis/Shuttles

Black & White Cairns may be contacted on telephone 131 008. Alternatively, the Cairns International and Domestic Airport offer a shuttle service operated by Australia Coach, which can transport people to most hotels and the city centre.

Cost:	One way $A7.00 for adults. Children under 14 are free.
Frequency:	Buses are available at the arrival of each flight.

Hire Cars

Major rental companies are represented at the airport and in Cairns. Reservations prior to your arrival are recommended.

Accommodation

Please note: July is the peak tourist season in Cairns and you MUST book your accommodation early.

A block booking of accommodation has been reserved at nearby properties in Cairns for VUV14. Further details are on the Accommodation page and bookings should be made on the Registration and Accommodation Booking form. All bookings, alterations or cancellations should be made to the Conference Secretariat. Please do not contact the hotels directly.

Banks

All the major Australian Banks have branches open between 9.30am – 4.00 pm from Monday to Thursday and 9.00am – 5.00 pm on Fridays.

Car Parking

The Cairns Convention Centre car park is by way of coin operated boom gates with a per entry fee of $A3.00. Access to the car park is via Sheridan Street entry. The car park is open Monday to Friday and on weekends if an event is held at the Centre.

Personal Insurance

Delegates shall be regarded in every aspect as carrying their own risk for loss or injury to person or property, including baggage during the Conference. We strongly recommend that at the time of booking your travel and tours you take out a travel insurance policy of your choice. The policy taken should include the loss of deposit through cancellation, medical insurance, loss or damage to personal property, financial loss incurred through disruptions to accommodation or travel arrangements due to strikes or other industrial action. The organisers are in no way responsible for any claims concerning insurance.

Liability Waiver

In the event of industrial disruptions, the Conference and the organisers accept no responsibility.

Privacy Clause

In registering for this Conference, relevant details will be incorporated into a delegate list for the benefit of all delegates, and may be made available to parties directly related to the Conference including Consec – Conference Management, the Conference Organising Committee, venues and accommodation providers (for the purpose of room bookings and Conference options and parties associated with organising the XIV International Conference on Vacuum Ultraviolet Radiation Physics 2004).
